Kilmainham Courthouse Dublin
The Courts Service had given the former Kilmainham Courthouse to the Office of Public Works so it can be developed into a tourist attraction. The building, which had been vacant since July 2008, will be made into a museum and will be used as an addition to the Kilmainham Gaol experience. The OPW describe it as a way to “provide ancillary curatorial, exhibition, research and welfare facilities”. As part of the first phase of the project, a boarded façade access scaffolding was installed to all elevations of this historic building. Due to the nature of the building, positive ties were limited to one elevation. This meant that we had to install concrete kentledge to all elevations. We then completely enclosed the existing roof using our Haki roofing system. This was a complete design and build project showing our end to end expertise on temporary roofing projects. It is a great pleasure to be involved in the restoration of this important building and this project builds on our reputation as the premier temporary roofing specialist on the Island of Ireland.
